In Memoriam Ken Ward (1944 - 2005)
On November 12 th 2005 past Grand Master of the O.T.O.A. Ken Ward (Frater O.v.N) died of cancer at the age of 61.
Ken Ward, a Canadian chela of the Monastery of the Seven Rays, began his studies within the Voudon Gnostic Continuum in the early 1970ies and quickly distinguished himself through his dedication to our work. In 1976 Ken Ward was raised to to the rank of Grand Master of the O.T.O.A. in order to direct the research circle and communication program and publications of those Monastery students who were formally committed to the Law of Thelema - he was to serve as a liason for the thelemically oriented monastery students.
Since this year the O.T.O.A. was operating within the MS7R system and the Outer Courts were headed by the Grand Master Ward, who was in direct contact with the Inner Retreat and the Grand Hierophant Bertiaux. In his capacity as a Grand Master of the Order, Frater O.v.N. was also instrumental in launching 'Instrumentum' as a quaterly internal journal of the O.T.O.A. which is until today known for its superior quality. Frater O.v.N.'s tireless labour bore many fruits and he will be forever honoured in our sanctuaries as a true and loyal brother who gave all his energy and enthusiasm to our common cause.
In December 1981, Ken Ward retired from all outer activities of the O.T.O.A. but continued his personal magical work individually. He is remembered within the larger occult community as one of the few true adepts who truly represented the four powers of the Sphinx: To Know, To Will, To Dare and To Keep Silent!
In the Bonds of the Order,
